Candelaria Viera, 90, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, February 12, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born February 2, 1927, in Naguabo, Puerto Rico. “Candida” was a great cook, loved music, dancing, and caring for her family. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Martin Viera-Rivera. She also has two surviving sisters, Emilia and Saro Gonzalez, of Puerto Rico. She had two sets of twins, among her six children: Pura Chittick (Mike), Maria Viera-Williams (James) of Dallas, TX; Martin Viera (Vickie), of Arlington, TX; Gloria Viera of El Paso; Jorge Viera (Trish) of Florida, and Robert Viera (Yvonne) of Michigan. In addition to several nieces and nephews, she also had six grandchildren, and over twenty great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will be said at 9:45am on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10,000 Pheasant Rd. Committal Service will follow at 11:00am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
