Bradley Keith Hickey of El Paso was born in Portland, Oregon to Donald Keith and VivianViola Hickey on April 4, 1953, died on April 14, 2022. He was the second child of seven bornto the couple.
Brad spent most of his youth growing up in the Portland metropolitan area. However, he livedfour years in Longview, Washington when his father was transferred there in the mid 1960s.During his youth he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. In high school he played footballand ran track. He and his teammates won the Oregon State Championship for the 440 yardrelay his senior year. He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1971.
Soon after high school he started working in the electrical wholesale business, an endeavorwhich lasted over 46 years. This work took him to jobs in Oregon, Idaho, and eventually to ElPaso, Texas. It was there that he met Guadalupe Adams. They fell in love and married onJanuary 26, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After a short time living in the Pacific Northwest theymoved back to El Paso, Lupe’s hometown. Their son, Keith Bryant Hickey, was born there onMay 8, 1986.
In his late teens and early twenties Brad was quite the car enthusiast. His first car was a 1965Ford Galaxie two door hardtop. He then moved on to a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner and thena 1971 Chevrolet Camaro. During this time he also purchased a 1968 Datsun 2000convertible, which he still owned at the time of his death.
Before his parents died he looked forward to the fresh Pacific Dungeness crab they wouldsend by overnight delivery to him and his family for Christmas.
In his free time Brad enjoyed golfing, until his health would not allow him to continue. He alsoenjoyed fishing. A fond memory for him was a deep sea fishing trip that he and friends tookwhile visiting in Oregon one summer. He especially enjoyed fishing trips to Vermejo ParkRanch in New Mexico. It became a favorite trip destination for Brad, and family along withfriends and colleagues.
Gardening was also a passion Brad had developed over the years. He was looking forward tobeing able to resume it this year.Brad was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Guadalupe and sonKeith and his wife Jessica of Dallas, Texas.
He is also survived by brother Dennis of Eugene, Oregon, sisters Tamara Lewis of Vancouver,Washington, Valerie Troyer of Sisters, Oregon, Leslie Humphrey of Shedd, Oregon, TraceyJaye of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Kelli McDowell of Klamath Falls, Oregon. He also leavesbehind 16 nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. He will be greatlymissed.
A public visitation will take place from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a celebration of life at 5:00 PMon Saturday, May, 14 th, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas, 9521 N. Loop Drive, ElPaso, TX 79907.
