BLANCHE ELIZABETH SAVAGE

Blanche Elizabeth Savage, nee Goodwin, was born on July 13, 1923, in Gloucester, New Jersey to Charles William Goodwin and Blanche Elizabeth Goodwin (Floyd). She died Friday, August 20, 2010, at the age of 87. A long time resident of El Paso, she was a homemaker and the head of a large and loving family. She traveled extensively throughout the United States in the company of her husband of 62 years, Benjamin E. Savage, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was an active volunteer for much of her life, most recently as a member of the East El Paso Republican Women’s Club. She was the heart of her family and the person everyone loved to be with. She was a treasured friend and like a mother to many young people. Always gracious, she never retired from creating the home where family and friends loved to gather. Her wisdom and loving empathy will never be replaced. She was predeceased by her parents and her stepmother Hazel Lamon Goodwin, brother-in-law Jack Savage Sr., niece Ann Savage Glattfelder, and nephew Charles B. Goodwin. She is survived by her daughters Carol Duke and husband Wayne, Shirley Savage, and Elizabeth Savage and husband Bob Greenwood; grandchildren Benjamin Garland, Susan Gechter and husband Bob, Jason Goyer and wife Kat, Wayne Goyer and companion Lori Martinez, Mathew Duke, Aaron Goyer, Laura Goyer, Robert Greenwood III, and Marc Greenwood; great-granddaughter Elise Victoria Gechter; sister-in-law Hilda Goodwin; nieces and nephews Hiedi Edeburn, Karan Osborne, Jack Savage, and Benjamin T. Savage. Graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010, at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Smile Train, the Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.
