Billy Ray Cunningham

Billy Ray Cunningham was born July 16, 1933 in Clint, Texas, and departed this world March 2, 2007, at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, Audie and Delana Cunningham and two sisters, Edith Creech and Ethel Margrave. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen Leona Hand Cunningham; one sister, Faye Williams of Montana; children: Larry Michael Eades and wife, Doreen; Ernest Eades and wife, Valerie, and Robert Lee Cunningham; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He grew up in Clint and El Paso, Texas, finishing at Austin School in 1949. He continued his education in mechanics and firefighting. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He then continued his professional career in mechanics and truck driving, but primarily as a firefighter. He retired from the White Sands Missile Range Fire Department in 1983, then worked as a security guard as long as his health permitted.
