Betty Van Nortwick, 95, died peacefully on October 11, 2010. Betty was born January 23, 1915 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She lived in St. Charles, Illinois where she owned a boutique dress shop. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Patrice Cobey and her husband, John. Betty loved to play golf and was a member of El Paso Country Club. She was also an active member of St. Francis on the Hill Anglican Church. Betty was loved and admired for her work with men and women in recovery from alcoholism. Her story began in Chicago in 1945 at a time when few women had found recovery. Later she was active in the Scottsdale AA Community, helping to start a recovery home for women.
