Betty Ann Sellers

December 20, 1930 — July 5, 2009

Betty Ann Sellers was born in Simpsonville, South Carolina on December 20, 1930 and went to be with our Lord on July 5, 2009 peacefully, in the company of her adoring family. Betty Ann was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Robert “Jim” Sellers just a short year ago. She is survived by her three children, Deborah Nelson, Robert Sellers Jr., Timothy Sellers, grandchildren Amber Saare, Stephanie Lopez and Andrew Sellers, and great-grandchildren Wyatt Saare, Emmalyn Saare and Stephanie is expecting another great-grandchild as yet unborn. Jim and Betty met standing in line at the University of South Carolina bookstore in Columbia, South Carolina during the fall semester of 1947. Jim, a 21 year old decorated war hero, and Betty Ann, a 16 year old blushing southern belle. He was captivated by her beauty. Boldly, he engaged this innocent young freshman in a conversation about a supposed mutual friend. Getting nowhere, Jim borrowed her pass to the football game and refused to return it unless she attended the game with him! A chance encounter and then a lifetime of happiness. They were wed at First Baptist Church, Fountain Inn, South Carolina on June 2 1948. Betty Ann and Jim were married for 60 years before Jim went home to our Father. Betty Ann followed shortly thereafter. Jim and Betty traveled the world with three young kids during the years Jim served in the US Army. They continued their travels throughout their lives to all the far reaching corners of the world. Ever the explorers, their children received pictures of them riding donkeys in Greece and feeding monkeys in the jungles of the Amazon. Betty Ann worked hard all of her life raising her children to be of good character. She caringly taught them to be honest, kind and loving to those around them. When things were tough, she stood in the gap for us all. She led by example. Jim and Betty Ann founded Sellers Realty in Northeast El Paso. Together they worked hard helping to build the Northeast community. She was loved by us all and will be missed. Betty Ann believed in our Lord and our only consolation is that she now is in the company of our dad and our Father in heaven. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Service at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
