Betty Jean Davis Anderson passed away peacefully on April 18, 2023, in El Paso, Texas.  She was born to Floyd G. Davis and Bessie M. Bishop Davis on August 27, 1932 in Bluejacket, Oklahoma.  Betty graduated from Bluejacket High School in 1950, and attended Northeastern Oklahoma A. & M. College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she graduated with a degree in education.

In 1954 Betty married Samuel David Anderson.  Sam joined the Army in 1955 and was transferred to Ft. Bliss Army Base in El Paso for basic training.  Betty and Sam remained in El Paso after Sam was discharged from the Army.

In 1955 Betty went to work for Sacred Gardens Association, owner of Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, and many other cemeteries and funeral homes throughout the west and midwest, until the company merged with Service Corporation International in 1996.  Betty worked for Mr. Norman Anderson, owner of Sacred Gardens Association for 50 years.

Betty and Sam had two children, Sami Lynn Anderson Roop and David Alan Floyd Anderson.

Betty enjoyed the many friends she made in the Westside Welcome Club, and loved to play games of all kinds.  She was also a member of P.E.O., and the UTEP Auxiliary, and the Westside Republican Women.  Betty was also a member of Western Hills United Methodist Church.

Betty never met a stranger, and loved spending time with her many friends, but most especially with her grandsons, Bradley and Stephen.  She loved to shop and go out to eat.  She was also an avid fan of UTEP basketball.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Bessie Davis, husband Sam Anderson, and her son, Dr. David Alan Floyd Anderson.

She is survived by her daughter, Sami Lynn, and her husband Brian, along with two grandsons whom she dearly loved, Bradley Clifton Roop, and his wife Melissa, and Stephen Samuel Roop.  She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Laura Anderson, who was married to David.
