Betsy Porter Bodenheimer

Betsy Porter Bodenheimer, 87, passed away July 9, 2010 at home with her family at her side. She was born in Winston Salem, NC, where she met her husband of 55 years, Talmadge T. Bodenheimer Sr. He preceded her in death August 18, 2003. Betsy was a Registered Nurse and worked in hospitals before moving with her husband and 4 Children to El Paso, TX in 1961. She continued working as a Nurse for Western Electric at White Sands Missile Range before relocation with her family on a number of the career assignments. Betsy and Talmadge spent time in Hawaii, North Dakota and Saudi Arabia before returning to retire in El Paso in 1984. They loved the El Paso area. Betsy was a passionate and prolific reader and especially loved studying history. Talmadge was able to fulfill her dreams of world travel through his career with Western Electric and AT&T. They were able to travel to Greece, Egypt, Rome, Paris and London. To see first hand some of the historic places she often read about. She is survived by brother; Raiford Porter of Emerald Isle, NC on the outer banks. She took great pride in and is survived by her 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Surviving members are, daughter; Lauren Vidal, grandson; Gustavo Garay-Vidal, wife Cori Harbour and great granddaughter; Chanellor of El Paso, TX, Dorian Smith, husband Jerry and daughter; Leigh of Scottsdale, AZ, Pamela Hiltner and grandsons; Leo, Joey and John and great grandson; Anthony of Rock Springs, WY, son; Talmadge T. Bodenheimer Jr., wife Beth and youngest granddaughter; Kelsey of Flower Mound, TX and granddaughters; Bailey of Boulder , CO and Megan of Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be at 9am, Friday, July 16, 2010 with a Funeral Service at 10:30 am at Sunset Funeral Home East located at 750 N. Carolina Dr.
