Bertha Irene Rivera

Our mother, grandmother Bertha I. Rivera, 95 years old, passed away peacefully October 4th at a local hospital and a love story continues as she is reunited again with her first love our dad, grandfather. This was one tough lady as she handled life’s ups and downs with dignity and grace, and in doing so it taught us many lessons. Aside from being a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt, she was a dear friend to many as they reached out to her. Many a stranger befriended her, a stranger in a grocery store or even a favorite waiter at a restaurant. As a girl growing up, our mom always wanted to be a missionary to serve God in that manner; but HE had different plans for her, and she fulfilled them perfectly. She is preceded in death by brothers Ignacio and Guillermo Vasquez, granddaughter Sonya Rivera, devoted sons Eli and Stephen Rivera and husband Trinidad Rivera. She is survived by sons Samuel and David Rivera, daughters in law Eva and Ruth, grandsons Samuel, Danny, Jonathon, and Gabriel and granddaughter Crystal. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.
