Bertha Rivas

Bertha Hijar Rivas, 81, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2008 in a local hospital. Longtime resident of El Paso. She was born in Ascencion, Chihuahua, Mexico on November 16, 1926. She was employed at the El Paso Independent School District for over 20 years. Survived by her children, Leticia Word, Eduardo Rivas and Alfredo Rivas. Son-in-law, Arthur Word and Daughter-in-law, Cynthia Rivas. Grandchildren, Phillip Word, Monica Word, Yvette Rivas and Gabriel Rivas. Ms. Rivas will lie in state on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast Chapel. Pallbearers, Aaron Hernandez, Jason Melero, David Hijar, Larry Clark, Charles Gonzales, Frank Acevedo. Honorary Pallbearers, Eduardo Hijar, Ruben Hijar, Fernando Hijar Jr., Richard Hijar, and Ruben Hijar, Jr. Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
