Bertha Hernandez, 81, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017.
She was born in Gran Morelos, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose Morales Hernandez and Margarita Gonzalez. At an early age, the family began to migrate north to the United States of America. First living in Chihuahua, Mexico then Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. In the late 1950’s ,the family entered the United States and bought a home in El Paso. Bertha worked at many merchants along Stanton Street. In particular 3B Shoe Store for many years. Bertha did not marry nor have children. Yet she cared for her parents their entire lives. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jose Luis and sister Martha Elena Stringfield. Bertha is survived by her brothers Gilberto Sr. (Maria), and Ruben, numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the entire nursing staff at Mountain Villa Skilled Nursing Facility, especially Luis, Sandra, Claudia, Julia, Dora, Julieta, Dr. Velasquez and anyone else not remembered, administrative staff, dietary staff and any others that assisted in her care and wellbeing. She will be missed by many and her memory will live in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana. Committal Service to follow at 11:00 am at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
