Bernadine G. Belkin (94) peacefully passed away early in the morning of Monday, August 15th. Born December 9, 1927, in St. Louis, MO, she later lived in Gardena, CA and Valencia, CA, prior to moving to El Paso, TX in 1998.
She is fondly remembered for her generosity and compassion. She and her husband Sanford created a warm, loving family setting, and provided a model for their children, grandchildren and great-grand children to grow and flourish. She loved to sing and visit the zoo. She was an active member of Congregation B’nai Zion, proud of being a Bat Mitzvah and an enthusiastic volunteer for a variety of organizations. She understood the power of friendship and was rewarded with lifelong friends.
Bernadine is predeceased by her parents Milton & Elsie (Spector) Cohen and sister Anita (Cohen) Millman. She was married for 52 years to the late Sanford N. Belkin, originally of Albany, NY. She is survived by her three children, son Jack Belkin of Dartmouth, MA; daughter Joyce Lieb (Carl), of El Paso, TX; and son Samuel Belkin (Ann Hellerstein) of Rockville, MD; seven grandchildren, Joseph Lieb (Kim Greenway), Eric Lieb (Lena), Daniel Belkin (Tanvi Butola), Mitchell Belkin, David Lieb, Tessa Belkin and Melanie Belkin; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
