Benjamin “Benny” Huerta, 53, found eternal peace in our Savior’s arms on Saturday, November 12, 2016 in El Paso, Texas. Born in Los Angeles, California on June 5, 1963, he was the youngest of four children born to Crispin B. Huerta and the late Lucila Sera-Huerta. He graduated from Eastwood High School in 1980 and attended Sul Ross University and the University of Texas at El Paso. At one time he worked in the hotel industry and then as an inspector for the USDA. Benny loved horses, rodeos and in his early years enjoyed participating in roping events. He also loved playing his guitar and singing Mexican ballads. He loved the outdoors, but his favorite place to be was in San Elizario, Texas. He was not a man of many words and a gentle soul. His actions, however, demonstrated the unconditional love and patience he had for his entire family. He was a loving and caring son, brother and father. He was a treasured uncle and friend to his nieces and nephews. Benny was raised in the Seventh-Day-Adventist Church.
Preceded in death by his mother, Lucila Sera-Huerta; sister, Lucila Ellis-Huerta; and brother, Julio Alberto Huerta. Benny is survived by his three children: Amber Olivarez and her husband Christopher; Christian Benjamin Huerta and Edwin Jesus Huerta; father, Crispin B. Huerta; brother, Carlos Huerta; sisters: Isela Chavez and her husband Frank and Carmen I.
