Belinda Jean Grimes, 74, of El Paso, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2025. She was born on April 4, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Belinda was known for her caring heart, dedication to her community, and her love for socializing with friends. She had a passion for playing Bingo and Pokeno, particularly with her beloved group of friends known as the “Pokeno Gang.” These activities were a significant part of her life, providing her with joy and connection.
Throughout her life, Belinda was an active and valued member of several organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of Isis, Alston Kennedy Guild, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 832, and Mu Alpha Mu Magnolias. She was also deeply committed to supporting her community, volunteering at the VA Hospital, where she enjoyed serving food to veterans, and helping to feed the needy at local shelters during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Belinda’s kindness, generosity, and enthusiasm for life will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of friendship, service, and unwavering dedication to making the lives of others better.
Belinda was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister; Henry Ford Dozier, Annie Mae Dozier, Henry Ford Dozier Jr and Ana Dozier.She is lovingly remembered by the love of her life, Ruber Banks; her cherished daughters, Thelma (Redd) Torres-Luna(Lalo Torres-Luna), Regina L. Taylor, Pamela D. Pettus, and Shantay Lovette Aldrich; and her beloved sons, Nicholas Charles Grimes(Malinda Grimes) and Michael T. Grimes; her brothers and sister Cesar Dozier, Ricardo Dozier, and Alba Vandemeer.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Janay S. Ancheta, Jasmine S. Ancheta, Jalisa S. Ancheta, Jaree S. Campbell, Jameer S. Ancheta, Ja'Kaylonee A. Torres-Luna, Teneysha C. Hemingway, Dominique J. Miller, DaShawn J. Taylor, Christopher J. Williams, Chalanda L. Pettus, Raven D. Hughes, Makaila N. Grimes, Nathaniel V. Grimes, David Aldrich, Kacie Aldrich, Benjamin Aldrich Jr., Cole Aldrich, Destiny Richards, Terrell Sleeter, Ashley Sleeter, Belinda Sleeter, Akiera Duffy, Akaila Duffy, and Jeremiah Grimes.
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Rhylan Ancheta, A’Nari Sloman, Xavier A. Livingston, Ira K. Miller, Payton K. Miller, Rylee K. Miller, Kamora Myers, Armoni M. Nelson, Ayesha D. Mendiola, Ricardo Mendiola III, and Amiri M. Nelson, who will forever carry her love and spirit in their hearts.
Belinda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00pm with a Prayer Service to begin at 6:00pm on Wednesday, February 05, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr.
