Belem Mendoza, aged 92, of El Paso, Texas, peacefully passed away on September 22, 2023. She was born on January 26, 1931, in Col. Juarez, Chihuahua, México, into the loving embrace of Dionicio Lozoya and Cruz Delgado. Belen, known for her unwavering strength, independence, resourcefulness, kindness, and love, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Belen's life was a testament to her deep faith and profound devotion. She found solace and inspiration at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, where she nourished her soul and sought guidance on her spiritual journey. Belen's unwavering humility, gratitude, and respect for all of creation were the pillars of her faith, guiding her every action and interaction.
Beyond her spiritual pursuits, Belen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her melodic voice would soar whenever a Trio or guitarist graced the air at parties or restaurants, filling the hearts of those around her with warmth and happiness. She cherished the tales of her childhood and family, weaving together memories with love and nostalgia. Tia Belen always had special trinkets, bracelets or earrings she gave to those who would come by to visit. Her culinary prowess was renowned, with her famous tortillas and cookies serving as a testament to her skills and her boundless love.
Belen's legacy is carried forward by her devoted daughters, Leticia Mendoza Ramirez (Andres) and Monica Mendoza, who embody her spirit of compassion and generosity. She leaves behind a cherished lineage of love, including her grandchildren, Vanessa Ramirez Stanley (Rick), Cynthia Ramirez de Lopez (Adrian), Amaya Yanelle Miranda, and Jessie Andrea Vazquez, as well as her great-grandchild, Cornelius Andres Stanley. Belen's brother, Ernesto Lozoya, stands as a steadfast pillar of support for the family during this time of bereavement. Lifelong friends, Maricruz Marquez, Angelita Goodman, Nena Reed, and Tere Gonzalez, shared in Belen's journey, offering solace and companionship along the way.
Belen now reunites with her beloved husband, Ramon Mendoza, her parents, Dionicio Lozoya and Cruz Delgado, and her siblings, Guillerma Lozoya Merancio, Refugio (Cuca) Garcia, and Jesus (Chuni) Lozoya, who have preceded her in death. She is also fondly remembered by her stepbrothers and sisters, Juan, Cosme, Eduarda, Manuela, Anastacia (Tacho), Leocadia (Calo), Felicitas (Licha), and Jose (Pepe).
A heartfelt Rosary will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 6:00 PM, at Sunset Funeral Home (East), where the community will gather to offer prayers of solace and remembrance. On Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:00 AM, a Mass will be celebrated at the sacred grounds of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 7424 Mimosa St. El Paso, TX 79915, where Belen's spirit will be commended to the eternal embrace of the Divine. Following the Mass, Belen will be laid to rest at the hallowed grounds of Mount Carmel Cemetery, located at 401 S. Zaragoza Rd, as her earthly journey finds its peace.
