Basilio Chavez

September 19, 1936 — May 22, 2011

Basilio “Chilo” Chavez, Sr., passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, after a brief illness.. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Bertha Chavez, his children, Lisa Escajeda (David), Betty Chavez (Robert), Basilio Chavez, Jr. (Grace), and Ricardo Chavez (Danielle), and his grandchildren, Lauryn, Andrew, Samantha, Eric, Maverick, and Juan Carlos. He is also survived by his sister; Elena Pinon and his brother Hector Fernandez, and numerous other family members. Chilo retired from Levis after many years of employment. He was a musician in the Fili Munoz Band, and in his spare time, he was also a bowler and an avid baseball player and fan. He has many, many friends, and they and his family will miss him terribly but will cherish many happy memories. Services are as follows: Viewing at Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750 N. Carolina, on Friday, May 27, 2011, from 4:00-9:00 pm (Vigil) at 6:30 pm), Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 28, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery following mass. We love you, we miss you, and you will live in our hearts forever. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
