Barbara Thompson, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 01:29 in the morning. Barbara was born in Eden, Texas on September 15, 1944. She graduated from Ysleta High School on May 23, 1963. She was a P.E. teacher at Eastwood Heights Elementary School where everyone knew her as “Coach T.” Anywhere you went with Barbara, students and parents couldn’t wait to say “hello” and give her a hug. She was the best sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and always gave from her loving heart. All who knew Barbara, knew her love for Whataburger, M&M’s, RC, photography, bowling, softball and riding in her dune buggy. She was the hit of the 4th of July parade escorting “Uncle Sam” at the front of the line. She knew no strangers and welcomed everyone. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Ernest Gilbreath, mother Maggie Conley, late husband Douglas Willey and daughter Earlene Willey. She is survived by her husband Robert Thompson, daughter DeeDee Spoon (Scott), sons: Douglas Willey Jr. (Cynthia) and Kenny Willey, brothers: Hayden Gilbreath, Glenn Gilbreath (Marilyn), Jerry Gilbreath (Cynthia), and sister Sandy Mach (Ricard), 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at Montwood Church of the Nazarene, 10640 Montwood, on March 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
