Mrs. Barbara Jean Rankin died peacefully at her home on October 8, 2018 in El Paso, Texas at the age of 81.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles Rankin; children, Robin Rankin, Crystal Long, Rory Rankin, Revis Rankin, eight loving grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Barbara was born on March 8, 1937 in Lubbock, Texas to Douglas and Thelma Adkisson. She married Charles Rankin in Clovis, New Mexico on March 30,1956. Over a span of eight years, the couple welcomed four wonderful children into their home. Her children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to grow in their faith, treat others with compassion and live a life pleasing in the sight of God.
Barbara was a selfless servant of Christ whose faith often translated to meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of others. She was a prayer warrior of great stature who interceded on behalf of her family and anyone who was in need of God’s help or guidance. Barbara also shared her faith with others as a member of Mountain View Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 11th, 10:00am, which will be followed by the Funeral Service at 11:30am, at Sunset Funeral Home – Northeast. The Committal Service will be held at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1:00pm. Pastor Tim Thompson will officiate the ceremonies. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barbara’s life.
