Barbara Jean Bernard Brewer, passed away from this earthly life in Lubbock, Texas on December 26, 2007. She was born in Clint, Texas, February 17, 1929 to George Rex Bernard and Melita Reilly Bernard who preceded her in death. She was the eldest of 7 children. She spent her childhood and her youth in the Lower Valley in El Paso, graduating from Clint High School in 1946 as Valedictorian & Texas Western University in 1950. She married James Brewer of Tyler, Texas in 1952. They had 3 beautiful daughters. Barbara passionately taught elementary in NM., TX. and UT. Later she obtained her Masters degree in Special Education, where she taught until retirement. She is also preceded in death by brothers Billy and Harry Bernard. Barbara is survived by daughters; Kathy Goerdel, Tyler, TX., Carla(Johnny)Hanks, Mt. Pleasant, SC., Patricia(Doug) Fullingim, Lubbock, TX., Siblings; John(Harriet)Bernard, New Orleans, La., Anne(Jim)Waters, Dell City, Ok., George(Carolyn)Bernard, New Orleans, La. and Mary Bernard, Monroe, La., Grandchildren; Brad Casey, Brandon Tuell, Cole Warper-Hanks, Hannah Hanks, Haley and Lindsey Fullingim. Great-Grandchildren Aliyah and David Casey. Sister-in-law Margie Morrison, Tyler, TX. and Arthelle Bernard, El Paso, TX. Numerous adoring nieces, nephews and the love of her life Jim Brewer. Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Resler Dr. Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with Interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
