Azucena “Susy” M. Domínguez, 66, passed away on April 2, 2017. Chihuahua, Chih., Mx. born and Silver City, NM area raised “Azu,” ‘68 salutatorian of Cobre High, is a WNMU, NMSU, UTEP, PUC-Brazil and EPCC alumnus. Retired Math teacher and Northeast El Paso, TX resident since the late ‘70s, Azu taught nearly four-decades, at Gadsden ISD and Parkland High. She loved music, writing, being healthy and staying in touch—Azu kept track of birthdays and sent correspondence. She volunteered with Tumblewords Project’s writing workshops and performances. A passion of Azu was reading at Church. Azu is preceded in death by Mother Maria Eva Miramontes, Brother Salvador Domínguez, Father Salvador Domínguez and Stepmother Guadalupe “Lupita” Domínguez. She is survived by Son MarcoAntonio Orrantia; Sisters Celia H. Domínguez, Teresa “Terri” Ordoñez, Lorena La Cour, Diana García; Brothers Jerry Domínguez, Efraín “Chayín” Domínguez; many loved nieces, nephews; cherished friends, co-workers, ex-students; and Former Spouse Juan F. Orrantia III, as well as his extended family.
