Avelina O Leos

February 26, 1938 — August 30, 2007

Avelina O. Leos (Nena) joined her Devine Mercy on Thursday, August 30,2007, surrounded by the close family she loved so dearly. Nena, a lifelong El Pasoan, worked and retired from El Paso Natural Gas, a place she sincerely enjoyed working at. She devoted her life to teaching the importance of faith and the strength of God's love to her children, and was a devout member of the Divine Mercy Prayer Group, headed by Geri Cuccaro, a close friend. She was often found speaking about the importance of Prayer with everyone she came across wherever she went. The last nine years of her life were filled with people who knew her as the fighter, the walking miracle, and the patient to look to for support. Through her positive spirit, she always dedicated her suffering as a penance for the sins of the world, so that each day would be full of meaning and always a part of God's work. She is survived by husband of 47 years, Alfredo Leos, her three children, Cindy Gorham, grandchildren Patrick and Travis Gorham, Patrick Leos and fiancée Monica Mendez, and Iris Bencomo and husband Jose Bencomo. She is also survived by her two sisters, Yolanda Sims and Irma Hurdis, and their families. She is also survived by her Very Best Friend, Christy Love. Nena and her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Mark Aung and all his staff for their excellent heartfelt care and their sincere dedication, and the many others that provided such patience and care. Her family would also like to thank the St. Rafael Divine Mercy Prayer Group for their endless prayers. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5 pm to 9 pm, September 3, 2007 at St. Rafael Catholic Church, with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rafael Catholic Church. Pall Bearers will be Alfredo Leos, Patrick Leos, Patrick Gorham, Travis Gorham, Scott Hurdis and Ivan Orona. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
