Aurora Bethany

Aurora Bethany, 97, lifelong resident of El Paso, passed away on January 12, 2011. Aurora was the daughter of Benigno and Paulina A. Chavez. She was the last of her generation; her four brothers and half sister all preceded her in death. Her son, Pat Ronald Bethany also preceded her. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Charles Bethany; son, Charles Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Manassas, Virginia; daughter-in-law Carmen Bethany of El Paso; Granddaughter, Rebecca Alvarez and her husband, Steve Alvarez of El Paso; and granddaughter, Roberta Gonzales and her husband, Jesus Gonzales of El Paso. She also has 10 Great grandchildren: Hannah Saenz, Caleb Alvarez; Emily Alvarez; Andrew Alvarez; Timothy Yeakley; Josiah Alvarez; Rachel Alvarez, Nathanael Alvarez, Isaac Bethany, and Lyric Gonzales. Aurora worked in sales for many years at Prices Diary, Woolworths, Kress, and JC Penney. On retirement she was a very active member of the El Paso Cactus Club and spent many hours planting the wonderful cactus garden surrounding the El Paso Museum of Archaeology. She was a member of the Grandview Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 9am-10am with Funeral Services to begin at 10am, Monday, January 17, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass; El Paso, Tx 79904, 915-755-4494. Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park to follow at 11am. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast.
