Ascencion “Chon” Perez, born in Long Beach, California on May 14th, 1931, passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2024, in El Paso, Texas at the age of 92. Chon was a proud and beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Son, and Friend. Chon was a hardworking man who worked for over 30 years at El Paso's Peyton Packing Company, retiring at the age of 52. He and his wife raised their family in Sunland Park, New Mexico where he built their family home with his own hands. He was a man of many skills and would never hesitate to help anybody in need. Chon is survived by his beloved wife, Julia, a marriage lasting 74 years; his daughters Rosa Rodriquez (Jesse), Pinky Hernandez (Tom), Leticia Rubio (Victor), Patricia Sanchez (Martin), Lilia Bloom (Juan), his son Alfredo Perez (Martha); his sister Socorro “Coco” Perez; his 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sons, Ascension “Chonito” Perez, Jr. and Felipe Perez. Our beloved Tata will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 - 8:00 PM with Rosary at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant. Committal Service will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery.
