Ascencion Garcia

February 26, 1962 — December 28, 2008

Many memories were left behind our father Ascencion Garcia Jr. Also known as “Shawn” to the people that had the privilege to know our dad. He was a long time resident of El Paso for 46 years and worked with Mike Garcia at The Merchant Security at the El Paso International Bridges. He was married to his beloved ex-wife of 23 years, Yolanda Guerrero with together had four daughters. Our father dedicated his life to his “Number One Girls”. He was a caring man who looked out for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was also a strong man who never showed any fear to any challenges that came his way. Our dad also loved to spend time with his family and was a life time fan of the San Francisco 49ers. Our dad would have also been a proud Grandfather this coming February with his first grandson, Erik Chavez Jr. but his life was cut short when God called him home. We thank God for the profound blessing and privilege of having him in our lives. Our father will forever be in our hearts. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Alexis Garcia and his father, Ascencion Garcia Sr. He leaves behind three daughters, Claudia Garcia, Cynthia Chavez, and Angel Nicole Garcia. Other survivors are his mother, Marcela Garcia, brother, Rudy Garcia and sisters, Grace Placencia, Lydia Guerrero, Patricia Perez, Elizabeth Garcia, and Olga Garcia. A Vigil will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Memorial Mass will be at 11:30 am, Friday, January 9, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be private.Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Do not stand by my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning’s hush I am the swift upflinging rush, Of quiet birds in circling light. I am the soft starlight at night, Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die.
