Arturo Gonzalez Jr.

Arturo Gonzalez Jr., (75 yrs) of El Paso, TX was called home to his lord and savior on Friday, July 24, 2023. Arturo was born in El Paso, TX on November 6, 1947, to Arturo Gonzalez and Vidala Gonzalez. Arturo graduated from Bowie High School in 1966 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. In the summer of 1970, Arturo met the love of his life, Norma. They were married on June 23, 1973, and went on to have 2 beautiful girls. Veronica Melissa Gonzalez born on October 7, 1975, and Erica Celina Gonzalez born on July 7, 1981.

Arturo worked for El Paso Community College for many years and retired as a Purchasing Agent in 2017.

He was a proud Bowie Bear graduate and would often meet with his Bowie Alumni for Saturday breakfast. He was a devoted Catholic and served his church as a Knights of Columbus. Arturo loved his Dallas Cowboys and spent many weekends watching football with his family.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and would love to tell stories of his days back in the United States Army.

Arturo loved his grandchildren and spent countless hours and days watching them play the sports they love.  He would often take them to and from school/sports activities.

Arturo was preceded in death by his parents; Arturo and Vidala Gonzalez and wife; Norma V. Gonzalez. He is survived by his daughters; Veronica and Erica (Michael Leon Guerrero Sr.), grandchildren; Gabriella A. Rico, Kailani Leon Guerrero, and Michael Leon Guerrero Jr. and his brother Hector Gonzalez and family.

As a devoted Catholic, he is now walking alongside our Savior Jesus Christ. As we say our final goodbyes, we would like our family and friends to join us.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm-8:00pm with a rosary at 6:00pm on Wednesday August 2, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30am on Thursday August 3, 2023, at Most Holy Trinity 10000 Pheasant Rd. Committal Service to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
