Armando (Guero) Villagomez, 80 years old, born December 20, 1928 passed away December 1, 2009. Mr. Villagomez was a lifelong resident of El Paso. He attended El Paso High in 1942-1946 where he played varsity football and basketball. He then joined the Naval Reserve. He retired from Iron Workers Local Union 84 in January 1988 after 50 years. He was a member of Coronado Christian Church. Survived by his loving wife, Gloria T. Villagomez of 56 years, and sons David and Derek (Sabrina) and daughter, Lisa Villagomez; grandchildren, Ryaan (Alana), Noah, and Alexis Villagomez; step grandchildren Larry and Josh Kaiser; sisters Viola Serrano, Irene Sullivan, and Vangie Zepeda (Fernando). He will also be missed by his many beautiful nieces and cousins, Tomas (Concha), Miguel (Patty) Arciniega, and Julie Gutierrez (Nino), Blanca Stuiffer, and Edward Romero. Preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo and Juanita A. Villagomez, and his sons Max and Michael Villagomez. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses and our dear friend, JoLee Vega and her family. Pallbearers: Tomas Arciniega, Armando Gutierrez, Ray Ortiz, JoJohn Vega, Henry Gallegos, Ken Carroll; Honorary pallbearers: Miguel Arciniega, Mitch Abraham, Richard Montoya and Ray Ciceri. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2009 at Coronado Christian Church, 118 Belvidere Street. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Gordon Wofford. Interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 8700 Dyer. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
