Armando Peralta

Armando Peralta 1/27/32 - 3/12/07 Born in Terrero, N.M. to Mercedes and Casimiro Peralta. Armando graduated from Bowie High School and was a very proud Bowie Bear (he was honored as an Outstanding Ex). He went into the United States Marine Corps in January 1951. He was on the boxing team in Hawaii when he volunteered for duty in Korea and was one of three soldiers out of a company of 43 men who survived a mortar attack. A memorable experience was meeting Senator Gerald Ford while spending six months in a hospital healing from his wounds. He married Maria Perez in 1955, and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years. He attended Texas Western College of Mines while working the night shift at the post office; he then continued his education by attending Bates School of Law at the University of Houston. Mando returned to El Paso and was a successful attorney for 42 years (nine of those as a municipal judge). Serving as president of the El Paso Bar Association in 1989-1990; and he was also instrumental in the incorporation, along with Judge Edward Marquez, of the El Paso Legal Assistance Society. He served on the El Paso Parks and Recreation Board, and was active in the Boy's Club of El Paso. He coached Little League baseball and enjoyed playing softball. Mando thoroughly enjoyed running and competing in local and out of town races. Survived by daughters Bonnie McLaughlin, husband Rick, Kyle and Mackenzie; Terry Vredenburgh, husband Jesse and Jess; Jeanenne Green, husband Alan, McKenna and Delaney; son Duane Peralta, wife Kristine, Wyatt and Olivia. Also survived by three brothers, three sisters, and countless nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8:30 pm, Thursday, March 15, 2007 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with a vigil at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 2 pm, Friday, March 16, 2007 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley. Pallbearers will be Duane Peralta, Alan Green, Kyle McLaughlin, Rick McLaughlin, Cameron Ortiz, Jesse Vredenburgh, Jess Vredenburgh, and Garrett Yancey. Honorary pallbearers are: Fred Morton, Bobby Nunez, Dr. Roger Ortiz, Pete Solis, Gus Rallis. Andy Delgado, Luis Ortiz, Art Gorman, David Yancey and members of the El Paso Bar Association. Special thanks to his caregivers: Jose and Celia Delgado, Monica Treviño, and VNA Hospice.
