It is with great sadness that the family of Armando Ortiz announces his passing on April 9, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Armando will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Rachel Ortiz; his daughters, Lissa Ortiz, Nora Arrieta (Mark), Amanda Ortiz-Kollar(Billy), Andrea Gonzalez(Doroteo); grandchildren David, Valerie, Mark, April, Sheyna, Brianne, Victoria, Gavin, Sebastian, Aiyana, and Santiago; brother Rodolfo Ortiz; sister Margarita Jurado. He was preceded in death by his parents Maria Perez, Adolfo Ortiz; brothers Donaciano Hinojosa and Bernardo Ortiz. Armando grew up in the Ysleta area where he helped his father sell snow cones outside the mission. Armando graduated from Ysleta High School, later he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served two tours in Vietnam. Armando enjoyed spending his free time with family, especially his grandkids, and different organizations throughout the community to include the VFW, where he was an active member. All who knew Armando, knew he was a very fun-loving spirit. Family and friends can pay their respects on Sunday April 15, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home East, 750 N. Carolina. On April 16, 2018 Mass will be said at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 131 S. Zaragoza with Internment at 1:00PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. With special gratitude for the Doctors and Nurses of William Beaumont Medical Center ICU for going above and beyond to fulfill Armando’s every last wish.
