Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and husband, Apolonio Ortiz Alvarado, has gone to be with the Lord on December 27th, 2024. Polo, as he so lovingly was called, was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Maria and Jesus Ortiz on May 1, 1930. As an adult, he moved to Juarez, Chihuahua where he met and married his wife, Guillermina Fierro. He later moved his family to California and then to Texas.
He was a resident of El Paso, Texas for about 55 years then went to live in Friendswood, Texas.
Preceded in death by his wife, Guillermina Ortiz, he is survived by his sons Carlos Ortiz (Rosa), Mario Ortiz (Nena), daughters Lydia Olivas(Tomas), Mina Martinez(Matt) and Veronica Martinez(Guillermo), brother Manuel Ortiz, sisters Maria, Celia, Lupe and Cuca.
He left behind but was able to enjoy 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Polo was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Visitation 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 PM, Friday, January 03, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. A Scripture Service will be at 11:45 AM, Saturday, January 04, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East. Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 PM at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
