Apolinar “Rod” Rodriguez, age 94, passed away early Sunday morning, May 12, 2013, at his El Paso home. Rod is survived by his daughter, Virginia and life partner Trish of El Paso; son John Evans & wife Polly Evans of Denver; daughter-in-law Jan Evans, grandson John Henry Evans & partner Britnee, two great-granddaughters, Ryan and Madison of Albuquerque; and sister, Petra Rodriguez of Palestine, TX. A WWII U.S. Army (Retired) Msgt. Retired from Ft. Bliss in the early 1960’s, settled in El Paso permanently, and shortly thereafter took a Civil Service job as a meat cutter at the Ft. Bliss Commissary until his retirement as Meat Market Manager in the mid 1980’s. Rod and his wife Irene, married 65 years, spent over twenty-five years as active members and volunteers of the Wellington Chew Senior Center. Rod enjoyed gardening, playing pool, and serving on the Bingo Committee. A Committal Service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:00am.
