With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Antonio Márquez, 94, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. Born in Smeltertown, TX on May 13, 1927, he was raised in Camargo, MX but returned to El Paso at age 18. Endeared with the name of Grampiti by his immediate family, he leaves behind a legacy of love, respect, dignity, and admiration for his devotion to his family and beloved wife Guadalupe Barrios Márquez. Retired from Asarco Refinery after 38 years, he remained dedicated to the service of family and those in need. He is preceded in death by parents Jose Maria and Juliana Márquez and numerous brothers and sisters. As the patriarch of the Marquez family, he is survived by his sister Mary Rivera, brothers Oscar Marquez, Rodolfo Marquez and his children Jose Antonio Márquez (Denise), Maria R. Chávez (Jaime), Isabel Mullens (Dwight), Arturo Márquez (Angie), Leo Márquez (Rebeca), and Guadalupe Lopez (Mike), adopted daughter Clara, 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Rosary will be at Santo Nino Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 14, at 7 pm. Mass will be celebrated on December 15, at 11am at Santo Niño followed by the burial at Mt Carmel Cemetery.
