Antonio “Tony” Herrera Sr., entered in heaven March 4, 2009 at the age of 83. Born November 27, 1925 in Columbus, NM. He owned many businesses, but his major accomplishments was West Way Lounge. Family and Friends remember him and his awesome domino game. You could, many at times, walk into West Way Lounge and watch him at his craft. The slamming of the dominoes on top of the bar were a common noise you’d hear as you walk in. Even after numerous attempts to beat him, you would hear the others say “one more game Tony”. You’d enter as a stranger and Tony would make you feel as if you had known him all your life. He will live forever in our hearts. He is survived by his son Antonio “Tony” Herrera Jr. (Gaby), grandsons Emiliano Antonio and Diego Antonio, Cecilia Whitman (Jerry), brother Gustavo Herrera, sisters Argelia “ Chela” Blanco and Esperanza “ Espi” Alvarez. A very special thank you to Martha Barreras, Daniel Sotelo , Lulu & Blanca, and Dr. Max Perelta for caring for my dad like he was part of your family. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas. Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 9, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
