Anne Spier

Anne F. Spier, age 83, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023 surrounded by family.  She was born on February 25, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Marc Julius Frank and Katherine Mueller Frank.  

Anne graduated from the University of Illinois in 1962 with a degree in Education and later received a Masters of Arts in Education in 1982 from The University of Texas El Paso.  Anne worked as a Speech Therapist in the El Paso Independent School System for almost four decades.  She refused to work in the more affluent schools in El Paso, instead seeking to work with students in south El Paso where she felt a calling and a greater sense of purpose.

In 1962, Anne met the love of her life, Bill, on a blind date and the two were married in 1963.  The couple was to celebrate their 60th anniversary later this year.

Anne loved her adopted city of El Paso but never managed to get used to its spicy food.  She was an active member in the Temple Mount Sinai community and a regular volunteer in many capacities including Chevra Kadisha and Caring Community.

Anne loved spending time with family, playing Mahjong with friends, reading, and worrying about those she loved.

Anne will be remembered for her brilliant mind, caring presence, and her razor-sharp wit. She was the matriarch of her extended family instilling values of community, education, giving and integrity.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and educator.

Anne was preceded in death by her father, Marc J. Frank; mother, Katherine Mueller Frank; and brother, Philip Frank.

Anne is survived by her husband William (Bill) and children Marc and wife Mimi, Danny and wife Shari, and Alan and wife Suzanne.  She is also survived by her nine beautiful grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston for their care and compassion during her stay.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30PM, on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 at Temple Mount Sinai Cemetery, 3911 Gateway West, El Paso, Texas.  A luncheon will follow at Temple Mount Sinai at 4408 N. Stanton, El Paso, Texas, 79902.
