1SG Anita C. (Messer) Olvera, U.S. Army (Ret.) Anita was born 7 May 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents Margaret and Albert Messer. She joined the Army and began her military Career in June 1951. Her specialty was personnel administration and training, earning numerous prestigious awards she also received the National Defense Service Medal and w/OLC and the Meritorious Service Medal. She retired from the W.A.C. Company after more than 20 years of service at Wm. Beaumont General Hospital in January 1972. She than worked at El Paso International Business College. She retired from the El Paso Community College having worked in accounting. Anita was preceded in death by her mother; Margaret Dollar, father; Albert Messer, brother; Donald Messer and sister; Ellen Joyce Flores. She is survived by her husband; Adolfo H. Olvera, sister, Margaret Jarrell, two nieces and three nephews. Visitation will be from 4pm-9pm Wednesday June 11, 2008 with a Prayer Service at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East located at 750 N. Carolina Dr. Graveside Service will be at 1:30pm Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.
