Angela Almeraz McGoldrick

Angela Almeraz McGoldrick passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. A lifelong resident of El Paso, Angela was born on October 28, 1933 to Andres Almeraz and Ana Aguirre Almeraz. She graduated from Jefferson High School and married Johnny McGoldrick, who would be her husband of fifty years. She raised their three sons and one daughter, then returned to work. She began employment with the El Paso School District as a teacher’s aide. By 1988 she was promoted to the position of Principal’s secretary at Irvin High School, an accomplishment she was very proud of. In 2000, Angela retired from the El Paso School District after twenty-seven years of service. Angela was also proud of her son’s service to our nation, and her smiling face could always be seen at family gathering until she was slowed by pulmonary fibrosis. A devoted Catholic she was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish where she enjoyed watching her grandson Scott Turner read during school mass. Angela is survived by her loving husband, Johnny McGoldrick and her children Johnny Jr. (Virginia), Richard, Andrew and Theresa (Matthew) Turner. She loved to spoil her grandchildren, Scott, Angela, Vincent (Karina), Rudy, David, Carolyn, Danny, Dustin, and Dakota. And she loved to care for the newest family member, her great-granddaughter, Mariana McGoldrick. She is also survived by her sisters, Elena Ramirez, Josefina Flores, Ana Baskin and her brother, Arturo Almeraz (Beth), sisters-in-laws, Ernestina McGoldrick, Annie Wasicki, Virginia (Emilio ) Savedra, Sister Mary Judith McGoldrick, brothers-in-law, Walter Jr. (Alicia) McGoldrick, Frank (Patricia) McGoldrick and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Angela was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jesus Aguirre and sisters, Consuelo Chavez and Dolores Martinez. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 28, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4800 Byron Street on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. .
