Angela "Patsy" Marquez

Angela “Patsy” Marquez, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 in her home of forty-seven years.

Patsy was born in El Paso, TX on June 3, 1953.  She graduated from Bowie High School in 1971.  She continued her education and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso followed by her Master’s Degree from Texas A&M University.  During this time, Patsy married the love of her life in 1973, Rudy. 

Patsy taught business education at Riverside High School from 1980 to 2014 and retired after thirty-four dedicated years.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, traveling, and caring for her dogs: Honey, Lucky, & Piggy.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael & Sara E. Cervantes, and her brother, Hector Cervantes. 

She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Rudy; daughters Rachel VonderAheCossey (Matt), Patricia Marquez (Isaac); and granddaughter, Victoria VonderAheCossey.  She is also survived by her sisters Irma Martinez, Maria Eugenia Gomez, Veronica Camacho; brothers Rafael J. Cervantes, Salvador Cervantes, Alfredo Cervantes (Dolores), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes – East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at St. Stephen Deacon & Martyr Church, 1700 George Dieter Dr. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana.

Pallbearers will be Abel Cervantes, Angel Cervantes, Hope Cervantes, Jaime Contreras, Matt Cossey, Paul Cervantes, Rafael Cervantes, and Roberto Camacho.
