Angel Lujan, Jr. was born in Sierra Blanca, TX on March 16, 1943, to Angel Sr. & Clara Lujan. He attended Ysleta High School with much pride but returned to Sierra Blanca High School, graduating in 1962. He attended UTEP, then Texas Western as an undergrad studying Journalism.
He met & fell in love with JoAnn Minjares, whom he married in 1964. During his lifetime, he & JoAnn enjoyed fishing & watching sports. Angel was an avid reader & loved reading about history and the Southwest. He was his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan. Whether it was watching them play basketball, baseball, football or just supporting their academic endeavors. He bestowed his love of rock & roll to his wife and children. He made it known that his all-time favorite artist was & forever will be Linda Ronstadt.
Angel lived and breathed retail for over 50 years working for Hardy Shoe Company and ending his career at Costco where he made many friends. Many nephews remember the Hardy days, as they were employed by their firm but fair Uncle Jr. I’m sure they have fond memories of those times.
Jr. passed away peacefully in the company of his family on January 20, 2025. The family would love to extend their heartfelt thanks to his dialysis nurse Nancy & his caregivers Jorge & Zulema who provided support and comfort during his final days.
Angel is preceded in death by his beloved siblings Heriberto, Eva, Ismael & Ana, as well as his parents Angel Sr. & Clara Lujan. Jr. is survived by his wife JoAnn of 60 years, his son Angel III, daughter Cristie (Robert), grandchildren Chris, Sarah, Gabe & Steven and 3 great grandchildren.
