Andrew E Dorame

Andrew E. Dorame, 89, born November 30, 1921, was called by our Father Almighty to the Kingdom of Heaven on October 11, 2011. A World War II Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from November 1942 to December 1945. He was with the 5th Army, 88th Infantry Div., Co. B, 349th Infantry Regiment. He also served overseas in the Italian Campaign for 24 months as rifleman and was awarded 2 bronze stars for participation in a major battle. His other awards include the American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantry Badge. He also supervised 12-15 prisoners of war. He retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad as a train inspector. He was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Sostenes G. Dorame; sisters, Francis D. Talavera and Charolette Dorame; brother, Ernest D. Dorame; and wife, Rita R. Dorame. He is survived by his brothers, Alex and Robert Dorame; son, Andy; daughter, Rachel; and grandchildren: Gabriel, Cassandra, and Adrian. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm, with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7pm, Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:15am, Monday, October 17, 2011 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4800 Byron St. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
