Andres Oswaldo Vargas

Andres Oswaldo Vargas, fondly known as “Andy”, passed away peacefully Saturday June 9th, 2012 at the Sierra Hospital, surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his mother Petrita Vargas and is survived by his father Andres Vargas, daughter Vanessa Marie, his siblings Irma (Carlos) Monarrez, Rene Vargas, Martin Vargas and Imelda Reveles. He is also survived by his Tio Lito, Tia Alejandra, his nieces and nephews: Monica, Eric, Carlos Noel, Charlene, Amanda Marie, Veronica, Davina, Derek, Christina, Julian and many cousins and friends who will mourn his passing. Andy was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Riverside High School . He soon after joined the U.S. Marine Corp where he was honorably discharged. When he returned, he worked as manager in a local know restaurant for several years before returning to school at the community college and finding his talent and true passion in art. Andy loved abstract painting, reading, fishing, and just hanging out with his nieces, nephews and friends. He loved life and meeting new people; and his sense of humor, infectious laugh, and personality won the hearts of many. He was the best brother, uncle and friend and he will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank his best friends Gaston Aguirre and Dan Maher. Friends at the El Paso Community College Art Department: Mike, Mary and many others. The hospital’s he previously had been admitted to in the past years, for their kind and helpful staff, and the many loving and faithful friends who have known him. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm Tuesday, June 12 , 2012 with a Vigil at 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East 750 N Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Santa Lucia Catholic Church, 518 Gallagher.
