Andrea Martinez

Andrea (Andy) Martinez passed away peacefully at home in El Paso, Texas on Tuesday January 5, 2021. Andrea was born to Gregoria and Felipe Porras on February 3, 1925 in Smeltertown, Texas. Andrea married Manuel Martinez on June 26, 1948 and together they raised and are survived by their 7 children, who loved her immensely – Manuel Jr. (Julie), Antonio (Sylvia), Roberto (Melinda), Armando, Eva Rio (Jorge), Ysela Renteria (JR) and David (Liliana). Andrea was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and all her siblings (Bonifiacio, Luis, Anita, Guadalupe, Jose, Manuel, Dolores, Gilberto and Aristeo). Andrea was the focal point of family gatherings – regularly entertaining her children, 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She loved recounting stories, dichos, songs and memories from her childhood years. The unconditional love, joy and laughter she freely shared will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
 Andrea spent the last two years of her life rotating every week between each of her children’s homes. She and her family were enriched by being so close during her final years. In the end, Andrea found peace knowing that God was with her. Andrea loved everyone. And everyone loved her. Our beloved mother will be missed by many but will live forever in our hearts and memories. Services will be private and are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
