Amy Olivia Latimer Lewis Buzzard

Amy Olivia Latimer (Lewis) Buzzard passed away early morning on September 7, 2016 to go be with the Lord. Born May 31, 1922 to Thomas Henry and Pearl Grace Caffey Latimer, on a country farm in Shackelford County, neat Lueders, Texas, one of five children (Sudie, Venton, Clyde and Ina). The most important decision made by Amy Olivia in her life at the age of 13 years is she asked God to forgive her sins and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Amy Olivia is a member of First Baptist Church of El Paso. She graduated from Lueders High School in 1939, graduated from Weatherford Junior College, Weatherford, Texas, 1942 and received her Bachelor Degree in Education and Library Science from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1971. She retired from the El Paso Public Schools in 1984. Lawrence Elmer Lewis, Jr and Amy Olivia Latimer married May 24, 1945. Lawrence Elmer Lewis, Jr died September 5, 1980. Lawrence (Larry) Buzzard and Amy Olivia Lewis Married February 14, 1989 and the union lasted until his death on May 29, 2003. Amy Olivia is survived by her son Robert Lee Lewis (wife Janice), Susan Diana Lewis, granddaughter Renee Antonette Lonigro Menendez (husband Kris), and two wonderful greatgrandchildren, Olivia Antonette Menendez and Kole Anderson Menendez, Ina Latimer Sosbee (sister) and many other nephews, nieces and cousins who she loved sending cards and letters to, so they knew she loved them all. Our family would like to thank Envision Hospice Care for the never ending love and support they gave our mother in her last three months of life. Special thanks to Dr. M Assi for his care and attention to mom for many years. Hugs go out to Kathleen, Ruth, Jesus, Gail and all the love you gave her to feel safe in your hands. Chestina, I want to say you were my nighttime angel to watch mom for me while I could get some sleep. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home-West 480 N. Resler Dr. El Paso, Texas 79912. A Graveside Service will be held at 8:30am on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, 4900 McNutt Road, Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Dr. Robert Nickell will officiate.
