Alison S. Huther

Alison Stuart Huther, passed away from this life to her eternal life with Jesus Christ, on July 10, 2007. She is survived by: her husband, Rudolf; son, Derrick and daughter in law Jennifer; sister, Rita; nephews, Noel and Ewan of Glasgow, Scotland; brother, Peter D. Johnstone; and nieces, Joanna and Genevieve of Australia. She is preceded in death by her parents Peter Derrick and Margaret Johnstone. Alison was born on May 11, 1944 in Glasgow, Scotland. She emigrated with her family to Australia in 1961. It was there that she met her husband in 1968. They were married in 1969 and Alison moved to the United States. As a devoted military wife she enjoyed assignments to California and Germany. She moved to El Paso in 1974 and made many friends including all the members of the El Paso Jolly Elders. She worked at the Fort Bliss PX, Rockwell, and as a home companion for the sick. She was an avid quilter and traveler. She traveled all over the world visiting 5 continents. She was also a collector of dolls and proud of her Scottish heritage. She was a member of the Saint Michael's Catholic Church at Fort Bliss. Alison loved cats and always had two for most of her life. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff, past and present, of William Beaumont Army Medical Center for the care that she received over the years. Her kindness will be missed all over the world. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7pm on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 10am on Monday, July 16, 2007 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (Fort Bliss Chapel No. 2). Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rudolf Huther, Derrick Huther, Mano Bonilla, Robert Flynn, Steve Maule,and Ron Lohmann. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the El Paso Chapter of the Diabetic Association or the Animal Rescue League of Canutillo, TX. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
