Alina Carmen Luna

Our beloved Alina Carmen Luna, born on January 6, 1971 gently danced her way out of the natural way of life on October 19, 2024 in the comfort of her own home. She was attended to by her mother, Elaine Luna, Dad Tom Sharp, her daughter Reyna and her Tías Kathy, Becky, Patty and Tío Ed Greene. She is survived by other family members. She was a much beloved daughter, mama, granddaughter, niece, friend and co-worker; she will be very missed by all who knew her, including her students.

Alina was a 48-year survivor of cancer which left her with disabilities that involved several life challenges for her and she made the best of it during her life. She started with dancing; tap dancing in childhood years, followed by Ballroom Dancing as a young adult. Then came the discovery of the Ballet Folklórico. This became the love of her life and truly, to see Alina dance was a treasure. She was like a butterfly in motion with her feet never touching the ground. Her daughter Reyna, follows mama's footsteps learning the Ballet Folklórico. Alina will be interred wearing the clothing style of the Ballet Vera Cruz.

After graduating high school, Alina pursued and received a B.A. in Banking and Finance from New Mexico State University, A.A. in Early Childhood Development-NMSU, A.A, in COTA-Occupational Therapy-ENMU and an M.A. in Occupational Therapy from Texas Women's University. These degrees took a period of time and in between, Alina always worked with special needs children and adults both in California, New Mexico and Texas. Her last employment was with the El Paso School District in which she devoted 6 years of her life to working with special needs children.

Imagine a purple butterfly flying against the wind, determined to get to the other side...and she did.

 Visitation will be from 11:00am with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 09, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Committal Service to follow at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 09, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4848 Alps Dr. 

Reception to be held immediately at 1:30pm on Saturday, November 09, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4848 Alps Dr.
