Alicia Piñón, loving wife and mother, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2009 surrounded by her family. Alicia endured a long fight with breast cancer and fought to the very end. She was born August 6, 1946 and was a lifelong El Pasoan. She was a graduate of Loretto Academy, class of 1964. As a devout homemaker, she loved to spend time with her family, enjoyed reading sewing, cooking and eating her morning Cheerios. Alicia gave generously of her time to her daughters’ school activities, which included the safety patrol, Girls scouts, tutoring, and orchestra, and she provided strong and loving support of her daughters’ and nieces’ pursuit of higher education. She is survived by her husband, Robert Piñón; her daughters and their spouses, Denise Piñón Carrejo (David), Jennifer Carrillo (Tony), and Tessa Piñón; and her sisters Ana Maria Dockstader and Maria Cecilia Romero. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 7, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. with a rosary starting 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home (Westside), 480 North Resler. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 1551 Belvidere. Burial procession will immediately follow at Fort. Bliss National Cemetery.
