Alicia Madrid, 93 years old, born and raised in El Paso, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024. Alicia lived her life the best she knew how and we are sure she left this earth praying that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild would always find security and love in this ever-changing world. While our hearts mourn the loss of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, we all take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
Alicia wrote many poems and through her written and verbal final thoughts, she shared tremendous pride in her grandchildren: Erik Madrid, Joey Madrid along with his wife Marisol Moreno and newest addition Nayeli Alicia Madrid, great-grandchild Dia Seskin along with her husband Tyler Dykman, Alix Seskin, Marlo Seskin, and Quinten Seskin.
She was also survived by three children: Steve Madrid, Eddie Madrid, and Jeanette Madrid Seskin. Whom she always praised and made it known how much she loved, cherished, and was proud of each of us, and she never let us forget how grateful she was to have given birth to us.
Alicia was a first generation to graduate from Ysleta High School, who enjoyed playing in the drum core and was thrilled to hand down her drumsticks to her grandchild Quinten who took up the drums. After high school she married her high school sweetheart Hilario Madrid. Widowed far too young, she continued studying payroll bookkeeping, choosing this as her career path. She also enjoyed playing weekly tournaments on a bowling team and totally enjoyed playing bingo and going to the racetrack. Alicia was sharp as a whip and would have us all laughing at her silly jokes and stories about her experiences.
So at this time, Alicia at 93 years old, we bid farewell to a strong willed parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. You will certainly be missed, yet somehow, we know you are at peace.
