Alberto P. Rivera, 73, died Saturday, December 5, 2015 at a local hospital in El Paso, TX.
He leaves his wife of 29 years, Hilda (Holguin) Rivera; his brothers Arturo and Robert Rivera; his daughter, Gloria Martinez and his son-in-law, Sean Stevens; his daughter, Bernice Rosales; his son, Martin Rosales; his son, James Gamez; his grandchildren, Leo, Ambrosia, Christopher, Candice, Joshua; his great-grandson, Damien; and many close friends.
Born and raised in El Paso, TX, the son of Alfredo and Josephina Rivera, he was a lifelong resident of El Paso.
After serving in the army, including a tour in the Vietnam War, Mr. Rivera worked for 35 years at American Smelting and Refining Company (ASARCO). Mr. Rivera was a hard-working man. You could feel the decades of work in his large hands, but there was nothing hard about his nature, the kind of person he was. He was the most gentle, welcoming, friendly man you'd ever possibly meet.
Mr. Rivera had a passion for his family. He was truly devoted to his wife and his children. His grandchildren and great-grandchild brought him a countless amount of joy and laughter.
A Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler Drive with a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m.
