Alfredo "Fred" Rojo

Alfredo “Fred” Rojo, 60, was embraced by Jesus’ loving arms on November 17, 2021. Fred was born on March 20, 1961, to Alfredo and Martha Hilda Rojo, in El Paso, Texas. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School where he discovered his gift for mathematics, and desire to serve his country while participating in JROTC. He proudly served in the United States Navy, receiving the Navy Achievement Medal and a Letter of Commendation for outstanding service. Fred went on to earn an Associate of Science degree in Mathematics, and work as a tutor with El Paso Community College. On January 14, 2000, Fred achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter. He served his community as a firefighter, EMT-B and Fire Prevention Specialist and Fire Inspector. He held each of his firefighter brothers close to his heart and made a point of visiting with them after his retirement. After retirement from the El Paso Fire Department, Fred’s love for God’s creation led him to pursue a career in Geological Science. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Texas at El Paso and began graduate studies also in Geology. His degree opened the door to federal employment with the United States Geological Survey and the International Boundary and Water Commission. He would say he was blessed to work with each of his colleagues and he loved the challenges of his job. Fred leaves behind countless friends and associates who respected and loved him. He loved music, particularly worship music, and being in the presence of his Lord. He took up the guitar and even tried his hand at playing the bongo drums, requesting a set for Christmas. He also enjoyed classic rock, especially listening to it live surrounded by family and friends. He was an avid cyclist, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, running, birding, and being outdoors exploring all that God created. He so enjoyed good food, especially his mother’s delicious enchiladas. He was the king of corny jokes and made us all laugh. In his strong and quiet way, he was a loving husband and father; loyal, determined, and steadfast. He cherished his mother, father, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; family was everything to him. He was a man of few words and fiercely determined. When he set his mind to a task, his goal was excellence; he gave it his all. At 6 feet tall, he displayed strength as he walked into a room; tall, dark, and handsome. Fred leaves behind to cherish his loving legacy, his wife of 28 years, Virginia Rojo, son, Judaea Rojo, mother, Martha Hilda Rojo, father, Alfredo Rojo, Jr., brother Gerardo Rojo, sisters Gabriela Rojo, Martha Leticia Madrid, and Veronica Rojo, the Ortiz family, Estrada Family, and Gutierrez family along with many friends. He is reunited with his Abuelita Lola, Tio Raul, Tia Rosa, brother-in-law Tury, cousin Ruben, cousin April, and niece Paloma. Fred now knows all Truth as he is in the arms of Jesus Christ, his Savior and Lord. I can tell you this directly from the Lord: that we who are still living when the Lord returns will not rise to meet him ahead of those who are in their graves. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a mighty shout and with the soul-stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet-call of God. And the believers who are dead will be the first to rise to meet the Lord. Then we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever.
