Alfredo Balderas

Alfredo Balderas, 78, passed away peacefully in El Paso, Texas on June 7, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Raquel Garcia Balderas, his three daughters, Leticia (Javier) Trejo, Lisa (Louie) Almanza, and Lucille (David) Gonzales; four granddaughters, Anissa and Andria Granado, Angela and Anna Trejo; and his two sisters, Amelia Sanchez and Isabel Wyatt. He was preceded by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and one grandson. He was born in Mission, Texas on April 26, 1934 to Máximo Balderas and Isabel Targuma Balderas. He graduated from Mission High School in 1952, served in the Army from 1956 to 1958 and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He worked for 31 years for the US International Boundary and Water Commission. He retired from federal service in November 30, 1990. After retirement he worked at Coronado High School teaching mathematics. He received his Degree of Associate in Christian Education from the National Apostolic Bible College in August 1, 2004. He was a faithful church member at the First Apostolic Church, and served as a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer for many years. He loved camping, gardening, reading, fishing, and watching UT sports. He was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. He touched the lives of many people with his kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed by all. His family will be receiving friends on Monday, June 11, 2012, from 5 to 7 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, in the Chapel at Sunset Funeral Home – West, 480 N. Resler, El Paso, Texas. Christian service will be Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 11:00 am in the Chapel. Christian burial with Military Honors will follow to Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
