Alfredo “Freddy” Aguiñaga Jr., 73, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday morning, September 21, 2023. Alfredo was born in El Paso, TX on December 5, 1949. He graduated from Ysleta High School and then left to serve his country proudly in the United States Navy. Alfredo would later marry the love of his life Mary, in 1973.

He worked and retired from Phelps-Dodge Copper Rod Mill and then went on to work for PJ Services where he supervised custodial staff at the FBI building. He considered his staff and all FBI employees as a second family.

Freddy was a man with the love of conversation, and loved family gatherings. His love of keeping his yard in beautiful condition was his pride and joy. He was an avid San Diego Padres fan and loved his old-school Tom Landry Dallas Cowboys. He loved working with people and enjoyed coaching girls’ and boys’ basketball at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and at local Recreation Centers.

Freddy is preceded in death by his parents Alfredo Sr. and Adelaida Aguiñaga, & brother Rudy Aguiñaga. He leaves behind his wife of fifty years Mary Aguiñaga, daughter Christine Diane Jones, son-in-law Michael Jones, son Alexander Paul Aguiñaga, sister Martha Estrada, sister-in-law Lourdes Aguiñaga, brother Manny Aguiñaga, and many nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home – East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM, Wednesday September 27, 2023, at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter. Committal Service will follow at 11:30 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
