Alfred D. Washington, 73, passed away after an illness on March 30, 2007. He was born July 14, 1933 in Wilmington, Delaware, and was a lifelong resident of El Paso. He retired from the U.S. Army and from the U.S. Civil Service. He volunteered for combat tours during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a Prisoner of War during the Korean War. He served with the military at Fort Bliss, Alaska, Korea and Vietnam. He received several military awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star Medal. He was a boxer as a young man in the Army and was an avid newspaper reader. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Washington; sons Alfredo, Anthony and Alan; daughters Teresa Washington and Maria Jasso; step-daughter Diana Washington Valdez; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveyard service will be at 10 a.m. April 4 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
